Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.
We are seeking an experienced Environment Advisor to join our Environment team, based in Cooma. This role will see you providing advice in relation to environmental practices to enable risks to be managed appropriately by the business. As Environment Advisor, you will have exceptional customer service skills and an ability to develop effective relationships across all levels of the business.
Some of your responsibilities will include:

Provide technical support for environmental work programs and, initiatives in relation to operational practices

Drive and support the development and implementation of technical / process improvements with environmental benefits, through strong engagement with internal and external stakeholders

Assist with carbon and greenhouse gas emissions reporting

Undertake operational and system audits to evaluate compliance with environmental performance standards, and recommend action and improvement opportunities

Coach and provide advice , to enable all necessary approvals to be achieved in line with requirements

Build positive relationships with both external and internal stakeholders to negotiate the best business outcomes
To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Relevant qualification in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering or similar

3-5 years experience in a similar position,providing advice to the energy, industrial processing, mining, construction, mining or public sectors

Environmental audit skills desirable

Demonstrated report writing skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and complete assignments within allocated time frames

Well developed communication, decision making and negotiation skills
-
Ability to work well within a team environment and relate to all levels of the workforce
