Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for over 70 years. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the 4,100-megawatt Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and has recently contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1 million retail customers through Red Energy and Lumo Energy.
Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history, a nation-building renewable energy project providing on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
An exciting opportunity exists for highly motivated casual customer service officers to join the team at our Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and Cafe in Cooma. With more than 90,000 visitors each year, the centre provides a fast-paced working environment. Visitors to the Discovery Centre can explore the past, present and future of the mighty Snowy Scheme, Snowy Hydro and renewable energy.
As the public face of Snowy Hydro and the first point of contact for our visitors, you will provide high-quality customer service and hospitality.
Your duties:

Present yourself in a professional and friendly manner and put the customer first in all situations

Provide a high level of customer service and complete cash sales

Prepare food and beverages, serve and clear tables.

Maintain the highest standard of quality, food presentation, hygiene and safety in food preparation and cooking areas and the café seating areas in accordance with approved standards

Handle all telephone enquiries in a timely manner

Support group visitation experiences, including school groups

Work within Snowy Hydro safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe environment for employees and visitors (including food safety and COVID protocols)

Provide accurate information about Snowy Hydro, the Snowy Scheme and renewable energy

Opportunity to represent Snowy Hydro at festivals and events across the Snowy Mountains occasionally as required.
To be successful in this role you will possess:

Excellent customer service skills

A sound level of computer skills and experience
-
Awareness of COVID-related hygiene and restrictions
-
An ability to work within a large team and unsupervised as required

An alignment with our Snowy Hydro corporate values

A Certificate 3 in Hospitality, Safe Food Handling and or barista experience is desirable but not essential
This is a casual position with flexible hours available. Our operating hours are from 8am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. There is opportunity to choose shifts on days and hours that suit you although flexible availability will be highly regarded. Excellent hourly rate with additional penalty rates applied to weekend shifts.
