An opportunity has become available for a Project Cost Controller to join our Project Services team based out of our head office in Cooma.
The Cost Controller's primary objective is to provide assistance to the project delivery teams to ensure costs are monitored and updated, regular analysis of project status is undertaken including risks, quality, costs, timing and progress. Coordinate accurate and regular project and program reports.
Reporting to the Manager Project Services, you will be responsible for:
Liaising with the project estimator to ensure project Cost Breakdown Structures are in accord with the project Work Breakdown Structures to ensure accuracy in forecasting
Liaising with the Procurement Team and Project Managers to understand the status of any project procurement requirements and the related commitments that will impact the cost forecasts
Liaising with the project scheduler to understand the progress of each project to enable accurate forecasting
Strategically analysing project statistics (financial, schedule and overall progress) and communicate results to Project Managers regularly with the aim to alleviate potential project issues and to confirm accuracy for reporting
Proactively identifying and communicate any project changes in Scope, Schedule and Cost to relevant stakeholders and project managers and follow the Project Change process were appropriate
Coordinating regular meetings with Project Managers and other key stakeholders to assess project progress, risks controls, schedule and costs
Developing project specific reporting structures and manage the compiling of the consolidated reports to issue for review, comment and distribution
What are we looking for?
Degree qualification in a relevant discipline (most likely Engineering, Finance or similar) with at least 5 years of post graduate experience
Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret data, identify unusual or anomalous events, produce reports and recommendations
Ability to influence stakeholders to obtain timely and accurate project related information
Ability to work on several projects at once, to prioritise time and balance the amount of time spent on different projects so that all have an appropriate level of monitoring
Good interpersonal communication and negotiating skills, demonstrated ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels of the business and with internal and external stakeholders.
