The Role
As the Manager of Environment and Planning, you will play a pivotal role in steering environmental performance and ensuring compliance throughout all aspects of the Snowy 2.0 project. In this position, you will also serve as the primary interface and relationship manager for external regulatory stakeholders, focusing on environmental and planning approvals. Your leadership will be critical in navigating regulatory requirements and fostering strong relationships to support the project's success.
Responsibilities include:

Develop and implement HSE systems, provide expert advice to project teams, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Monitor project activities, establish incident reporting processes, and prepare performance reports to improve HSE practices and outcomes.

Develop and implement Environmental and Planning systems that align with approval requirements and industry best practices, providing expert support to project teams, conducting risk assessments, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Manage project planning approval modifications by coordinating regulator interfaces, engaging external consultants, ensuring compliance with internal processes, updating secondary approval requirements, and proactively identifying emerging risks that may impact approval boundaries.

Lead site monitoring programs to assess environmental impacts, implement compliance solutions, prepare performance reports for management, and guide infrastructure projects like water treatment facilities.

Lead the establishment and implementation of site rehabilitation strategies, overseeing finalisation works to ensure long-term compliance for Snowy Hydro and facilitating the handover process to relevant landholders.

Lead and mentor the Snowy 2.0 Environment team to uphold high environmental performance standards, achieve project objectives, and foster engagement and well-being through effective people leadership and collaboration with stakeholders.
You'll Bring To The Team:
A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with experience leading environmental programs for major construction or energy projects. Your strong knowledge of relevant legislation and a proven track record in developing successful strategies will be essential. With excellent leadership and communication skills, you'll inspire teams and build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, while effectively managing multiple projects and aligning performance with business objectives.
