Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the 4,100-megawatt Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and has recently contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1 million retail customers through Red Energy and Lumo Energy. Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history, a nation-building renewable energy project providing on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
The Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre in Cooma is a state-of-the-art visitor and education facility which attracts more than 80,000 visitors each year. The cafe provides a ready-to-eat, fresh and diverse menu with a strong focus on utilising local suppliers and produce. An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Casual Kitchen Assistant to join this fast-paced working environment and customer-focused team.
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will be undertake the following duties:

Prepare quality food using local and seasonal produce including items such as sandwiches, wraps, salads etc.

Work with the Cafe Coordinator and external caterers to ensure a fresh and seasonal menu

Present a creative and professional customer-facing food display

Clean food preparation area, tables and common areas as per food safety and COVID requirements

Work within Snowy Hydro safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe environment for employees and visitors

Refill food supplies and stock and keep all operational areas tidy and safe

At times, assist the cafe team to ensure customer-needs are met
To be successful in this role you will possess:

A Certificate 3 in Hospitality or relevant hospitality experience

Safe Food Handling training
-
Awareness of social distancing and COVID-related hygiene and restrictions
-
An ability to work within a large team and unsupervised as required

Sound level of computer skills and experience
This is a casual position which may include regular weekend work on a rotational roster. We are looking for someone who has the willingness and flexibility to work to meet changing demands. Availability to work any day of the week will be highly regarded.
