Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy. Snowy 2.0 is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Project Engineer - Mechanical to join a dynamic Outage team where you will specify the quality requirements and provide technical support during the equipment repair process to ensure that the assets meet the long-term reliability and availability requirements for the business. In this role you will also provide mechanical specification and oversight of design changes for onsite and off site component repairs.

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

Developing repair methodologies and technical works to be undertaken during projects that fulfil asset strategic goals.

Communicate with the repair service providers on a regular basis on technical and design requirements.

Deliver accurate and timely reporting on projects issues arising in a proactive and timely manner providing control strategies.

Diagnose and provide input and recommendations about improvements to processes, work practices and repair specifications.

Provision of mechanical technical support to site based engineers on defects or plant issues that arise during project refurbishment works, machine assembly and commissioning.

Establish constructive working relationships with the Project Delivery, Production, Asset Management and Engineering teams.
We're looking for someone with:

A degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering with extensive site engineering experience, satisfying the eligibility requirements for Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia.

Extensive experience in large scale or complex mechanical and multi-discipline projects in the construction, mining, power or similar industries.

Management and interaction skills to successfully supervise contracts.

Experience in a multi-discipline team environment, with specialist knowledge of the design, operation and maintenance of hydro or similar assets.

High level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of an organisation and external stakeholders.

Sound mechanical engineering capability to review & assess consultant designs and recommendations.
