Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.
An exciting opportunity exists within this project for a suitably qualified and experiencedProgram Manager - Capital Works. This role is accountable for managing concurrent, complex programmes of capital works across the organisation and ensuring the development and compliance of appropriate risk mitigation strategies. This is a fulltime position based in Cooma.
Reporting to the Manager of the Capital Projects this position also has a governance function to ensure that project delivery processes are safely applied as appropriate to the projects to ensure that they are delivered according to business needs.
Key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:

Develop, plan and manage the delivery of programmes of work comprising multiple projects within the capital budget. Establish and enact the appropriate project resources plan (internal and external) to ensure safe, cost effective and timely delivery.

Apply the appropriate project management and governance processes through the whole lifecycle of the project commensurate with the risk, complexity and needs of the project to ensure that it is delivered safely in accordance with the agreed KPIs. Identify and anticipate project related business risks assessment and ensure that appropriate controls are implemented and maintained.

Establish the delivery and procurement strategy for projects, working closely with procurement and relevant stakeholders.

Work closely with the project, construction and site managers in the planning of the execution of the works adopting a risk based approach to the development of the project management plan together with its supporting plans covering all aspects of the execution phase from contractor selection and ensuing management, site set up, through physical execution works to project handover and close out.

Frequently inspect and monitor works to achieve specific quality, specification and progress requirements. Derive and implement control strategies to mitigate or minimise the impact of issues as they arise during execution.

Undertake the role of Project Manager where required for high risk projects.

Provide accurate and timely reporting on project productivity and issues arising in a proactive and timely manner.
Management and Development of team

Coach, mentor and lead the team ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly communicated and appropriate performance measures are established; ensure clarity of purpose and performance measures.

Provide expertise and know-how to the teams with specific input to risk management plans and information management

Set goals and behaviours required to safely and expeditiously execute the capital works programme.
Stakeholder Engagement

Work closely with the Asset Management Engineering team in translating the business needs derived from the Strategic Asset Plan into realistic achievable programmes of work that are scheduled in the capital works plan.

Actively engage with the range of stakeholders who have an input to the project during all phases.

Develop good working relationships with the Regional Managers and their direct reports through keeping them abreast of all site related activities (both current and planned)
In addition to the above, our ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate;

10 years or more project management experience with direct experience in managing multiple concurrent projects ranging up to $10m of all disciplines.

Preference is given to an electrical background but could be civil or mechanical

Demonstrated safety leadership whilst achieving results, ensuring that work is done in a constructive, supportive manner.

Proven ability to negotiate with, manage and supervise external contractors and consultants.

The ability to work with autonomy and responsibility; and to work effectively both at site and remotely from site.

Strong communications/report writing skills
