Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.
An exciting opportunity exists within this project for a suitably qualified and experiencedProject Manager - Capital Works. The role is responsible for the planning and delivery of a range of sustaining capital projects to meet the long-term safety, reliability and availability requirements of the business. The application of sound project management principles together with appropriate HSE and Risk management is paramount in all planning and execution aspects of the role. This is a full time position based in Cooma.
Reporting to the Programme Manager within the Capital Projects Team your key accountabilities will be:

Clearly identify the scope of work at the commencement of a project and hold a kick off meeting with all relevant stakeholders for the project. Set context and role clarity for project and cross functional teams.

Work closely with associates in the Capital Projects, Engineering and Procurement teams to determine the appropriate delivery strategy for the projects.

Develop the project management plan for the delivery of the project encompassing a defined scope of work, budget and resourced schedule. Included in this plan will be a fully developed risk register with clear controls and assurance actions identified along with a HSEQ plan for the execution of the works.

Manage the selection of appropriate contractors to undertake the works, contract formation, execution and administration through the life of the contract. Ensure that the appropriate resources (technical or otherwise) are utilised during the execution of the works including commissioning and handover.

Manage, monitor and report on the projects, throughout their lifecycle to achieve the desired outcome against the agreed KPIs of HSE, budget, schedule and quality utilising our internal resources and external framework partners as appropriate.

Frequently inspect and monitor works to achieve quality, specification and throughput requirements.

Provide input and recommendations about improvements to the delivery process, project completion and handover processes, and use this knowledge to improve Project Delivery.

Provide leadership throughout the projects by using Team Processes to achieve goals, problem solve and improve work.

It is imperative that a strong focus on risk, safety and environment throughout the lifecycle of the project is upheld. In addition, to ensure that systems and processes are put in place to ensure zero harm during site works.
In addition to the above, our ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate:

Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree with demonstrated experience (minimum 10 years) in heavy industry

Demonstrated project management and engineering skills with the ability to execute tasks from inception to completion

Ability to work with autonomy and responsibility; and to work effectively both at site and remotely from site.

Highly developed interpersonal communication and negotiating skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels, including senior level officers, and with internal and external stakeholders.

Sound knowledge of Quality, OH&S, EEO and Environmental policies, procedures and standards.

Able to quickly and effectively adapt to changing circumstances and demands in a measured and constructive way.
