An exciting opportunity has become available for a Mechanical Engineer to provide specification and design approval for on-site and off-site component repairs, associated with major hydro refurbishment and upgrading projects.
The role is primarily focused on major outage project activities but will also be supporting the Regional teams for on site and off site repair requirements.
Some of your other responsibilities will include:
Providing engineering support to the Project Managers and Outage/Site Managers during planning, execution, commissioning and finalisation works;
Specifically identifying and anticipate project and business related risks in the planned execution of work and ensuring that appropriate controls are identified, implemented and maintained through the life of the project;
Frequently inspect and monitor works to achieve specified technical and quality requirements;
Identify and improve inefficient work processes to increase the productivity of the team or wider business processes;
Contribute to the development of internally and externally executed work packs for new installation and repair works;
Deliver accurate and timely reporting on project issues arising in a proactive and timely manner and provide input into control strategies.
To be successful, you'd ideally possess:
Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering, satisfying the eligibility requirements for Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia;
Previous experience in large scale or complex mechanical and multidisciplinary projects in the construction, mining, power or similar industries;
Sound mechanical engineering capability to review & assess consultant designs and recommendations;
Ability to develop, read and understand work scopes, technical specifications and drawings and conceive suitable, efficient and safe methods to complete works;
Well developed, proven and demonstrated analytical and research skills;
Sound knowledge of Quality, WHS, EEO and Environmental policies, procedures and standards.
Well developed interpersonal communication and negotiating skills, along with demonstrated ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels, including senior level Managers, and with internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver project outcomes, are critical to the role.
