We also provide clean, efficient electricity and gas to almost one million customers - households and businesses - across the country through our retail energy business.
We are currently looking for two experienced Senior Environmental Advisor's to join our Water and Environment team in Cooma. This is a critical role which requires strong communication and stakeholder engagement to continuously improve the environmental management and regulatory performance of company wide programs. Reporting to the Environmental Manager you will work with internal and external customers and provide authoritative technical advice.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Working with people in “the line” to solve problems and improve the management of day to day operations and environmental risks
Participation in review, improvement and implementation of key processes (ie certification audits, operational risk, incident management and controls integration into business systems)
Lead routine activity / development approval processes including assessment, negotiation with regulators, engagement of consultants and community consultation.
Integrate environment requirements for major projects and overhauls during scoping, contract development, tendering, contractor selection and project management processes.
Participate in the development of strategies for new regulatory instruments, reviews and amendments
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
Minimum of 5 years experience in an environmental advisory or natural resource management role
Degree / post graduate qualification in environmental or natural resource management discipline or equivalent
Highly developed influencing & negotiation skills
Strong data analysis and reporting skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment, manage well through ambiguity and complexity
Experience in the interpretation and application of relevant regulatory requirements and planning processes.
Highly developed skills in environmental auditing, incident investigation, and report writing
